Meatloaf cake

This meal made from minced meat is one of the traditional Hungarian meals what you can find on the table on Sunday or for Easter.
The Hungarian name is STEFÁNIA VAGDALT translated in English sounds like Stefania meatloaf. The original recipe call after hard firm egg instead of carrot, but for my family weight control I have used raw carrot.

Ingredients :

500 gr minced meat
1 medium onion
2 cloves garlic
2 eggs
3 tablespoon bread crumbs
parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground caraway seeds
2 teaspoon marjoram
1 big carrot or 3 cooked eggs

1. Preheat oven to 190 C.

2. Cut the onion in slice and fry them in oil until soft.

3. Mix together all ingredients (except carrot or cooked eggs) in a large bowl with your clean hand.

4. Place half of the meat mixture on a board and put the cleaned carrot on it. Place the other half of meatloaf on it and shape a long oblong.

5. Place the meatloaf oblong in a slightly greased pan and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cover the pan with silver foil or kitchen foil and put in the oven. Bake it for 30 minutes than remove the kitchen foil (take care to not burn yourself with the steam from the pan). Bake another 30 minutes without cover.

Serve it hot or cold with rice, noodle, tomato sauce  or green peas.
