Romanian restaurant in Marina (Review and Rating)

Decebal is a Romanian restaurant, located at the end of Marina, after JLT metro station and Marina Yact Club.

Now a little bit about Romania, the beautiful country is situated north of the Balkan Peninsula and on the western shore of the Black Sea. Romania derives from the Latin romanus, meaning "citizen of Rome". It is the seventh most populous member of the European Union, so do not get surprised if you will taste in two Romanian restaurants the same food but with some different ingredients.

So sad that when you enter in the restaurant you won`t see traditional Romanian decorations. The waitress, the two Filipino girls are amazing, they look so cute in the Romanian traditional dresses, they even know a few words in Romanian language, they make a very good job, smile all the time and are very friendly, the other waitress who isen`t dressed traditional, she isen`t  friendly at all with all customers, I believe she need to learn a little bit about the
customer service.

The place have a rich variety from Romanian food in their menu, you can choose from salad, dessert and main courses.
To be honest I tried their food made from sauerkraut, meat and as side dish I had the corn meal (Mamaliga), but I did not like it at all, the corn meal was very hard and I missed from the sauerkraut the rice, but the same dish my friend love it (how already I wrote, how many parts in the country so many tastes and recipes for the same food). I ordered also a traditional soup, with name Ciorba de burta (what is a traditional soup from belly of beef or cattle) and I must say, yes , that is a traditional Romanian soup, tasted good and was served with bread, what I missed from the soup is  some hot feeling, maybe vinegar or some hot peppers, and to be more hot, because what they served it was like lukewarm.

The prices are not exaggerated, a soup cost 27 Dirham and the dish from sauerkraut with the side dish is 37 Dirham.

On an another visit at them after hearing many good feedbacks about their papanasi (also traditional sweet), I tastes this delicious sweets. Papanasi is a sort of doughnut from cheese, filled with cream and jam, I must say it is very tasty, and you will get 2 big pieces for only 28 Dirham. The photo don`t give you back the smell or that look, when you believe that the sweets are calling for you, but trust me, is very delicious. The papanasi are hot and the sweet, topped with  jam and make
a perfect combination with the cream.

I suggest for them traditional decoration, also they should try to translate the name of the food on their menu, not only the ingredients names, also to work on the food and the waitress arrogance.

For the food, hospitality and the prices I give them 6.0

Like
Waitress hospitality, music from the place, soup and the papanasi

Not like
Cappuccino was like Nescafe, and to be honest I believe 20 Dirham is way to much for that cappuccino,  one arrogant waitress behavior, no traditional decoration, food from corn meal

Updates: I have heard the restaurant had changed their chefs. I wasen`t ther since I have written my review but I am thinking to make a new visit, so I suggest you also give a try.

  4. Last week we (Father, mother, sister) went to dinner when we visited in Dubai at Wagamama in Crown Plaza. You know That was an amazing experience for us. They serve Asian , Japanese noodle bar style food and healthy fresh juices. They have family friendly environment for people who wanted to visit there. My mother liked chilli dishes in there. After marriage I want to go there with my husband. And it is my dream now.
