Potato pancakes, Rösti, Tocsni, Kremzli
A vegetarian food what you can eat for breakfast, lunch or even for dinner. In Hungary this food has approximately 10 names, but in all Europe is well known. I know that even Palestinian woman`s in Jordan prepare it by adding cauliflower. In Switzerland the name is Rösti. It was originally a common breakfast eaten by farmers.
Ingredients:
1 kg potatos2 clove garlic
3 tsp salt
3 tsp ground black pepper
2 egg
3 tbsp four or grits (semolina)
1. Peel the potatoes and wash them with cold water. Using a grate finely grate the tomato and garlic.
2. In a bowl mix together all the ingredients.
3. Preheat a thin film oil in a pan or griddle. Put about 2 tbsp of the potato mixture in the pan and fry for a few minutes until golden, use a spatula to flip, fry both sides.
4. Drain on paper towels.
Serve while still warm or cold with yogurt, sour cream or cheese.
